    Homeopathy

Homeopathic remedies are not to be confused with herbal medicine when the actual fresh or dried herbs are used to treat certain
illnesses - they can have strong medicinal properties, including side effects and traces in blood of the original substance. The
homeopathic remedies are derived from plant and mineral sources and made into tonics and small pellets by very specific and
controlled methods by dilution. To produce homeopathic remedies, the original substances are serially diluted to the point that all
toxic and unwanted side effects are eliminated, for example a ratio of 1:50,000. To better understand the dilution ratio, it could be
described as “few drops in a swimming pool of water”.

The principle of Homeopathy is that it strengthens the body's ability to heal itself by working with the body’s own natural systems, not
    - as in the case of many pharmaceutical prescriptions - by working against them or by overriding or suppressing the immune system
with chemicals. Homeopathic remedies stimulate the body's natural curative powers and are completely safe, with none of the side-
effects of drug interactions. They can be used with other therapies and pharmaceutical medications, as well as supplements and
herbs; however, some of the oils used in aromatherapy can prevent remedies from working effectively.

I study and utilize a complete Materia Medica called “Homeopathy for Horses” by Tim Couzens, Veterinary Surgeon and graduate from
the Royal Veterinary College, UK, and frequently cross-reference this publication with numerous online resources. I sometimes
recommend simple homeopathic remedies for physical ailments, which are based on in-depth research, after the initial consultation
in order to support the healing process and compliment therapy sessions. I have used several remedies on horses with successful
long-term results. Studying Homeopathy and Homeopathic remedies, along with other healing modalities, is one of my life long
    pursuits.

Homeopathy is considered a form of alternative medicine, created by German scientist and physician Samuel
Hahnemann in the 18th century. Homeopathic remedies are based on a fundamental healing principle that
“like cures like”. Therapeutic applications of remedies are recorded in a homeopathic Materia Medica, which is
a Latin medical term for the body of collected knowledge about the therapeutic properties of any substance
used for healing – basically a reference guide for curative remedies. The remedies are selected according to
a client consultation that explores the physical and psychological state of the patient, including history of
issues and ailments.
